Description: This is a CTF map with a twist. There is a third base in the center of the map controlled by a FlipFlop. The main bases have 3 Gens, 2 Turrets, 1 Sensor, 4 Inv Stations, and 1 vehicle pad (with air only vehicles). The center base has 2 Gens (one protected by force fields), 2 Inv stations, 1 Sensor, 1 Turret, 1 Vehicle pad (with ground vehicles only). The two main bases are located inside volcanos. The main objective is to capture the flag, the secondary objective is to capture and hold the center base. It will provide ground support for your team, and a place to rejuvinate on your way back with the flag!

Well I guess I had a bad they then and didn't know what I was smoking. Map isn't bad, and client side your right doesn't matter, just that Ive seen this kind of things done in CTF maps done over and over and over again, its just well boring, fairly flat land (execept for craters of course) one capturable objective with the average vech station, inivies, and turrets. Then the ever so often used Sanctary base that is sooo boring now. But whatever its not bad just average, to average to deserve Map of the Week. So my real grade would be a C+ then

How can you give a map a poor grade based upon whether or not it's client side or server side? I think any rational human being would consider that to be a matter of design and purpose, not of effort or quality. And to say that he purposed to createe an original map and therefore I give it a D or whatever...just doesn't make any sense. Just so happens that without client side maps, we'd have the same shapes, same textures, same same same stuffed down our throats over and over again. No thanks. In addition, there are numerous client side maps, which have made it onto popular server rotations where players consider it an opportunity to download the maps, not a setback.

Pardon me saying but this map sucks. One major thing that makes this not so great is the fact that it's client side. This is because just looking at it I can tell that quite a few people would have to play this to make it fun, and I highly doubt all the people would want to spend time to download it. Second reason I dislike this is because it is mostly all flat land and craters, with wide open area. I mean not to say this map is the worst map out but I don't think it deserves map of the week... its preaty average if you ask me.

Slowly absorbing all input. Concentrating on my next map. Using what constructive criticism where given and making those work for my next map.

I agree with Star on evey comment about this map. But still, why map of the week/month? If this is what it takes to make map of the week/month on this site I'm glad those long hard days of mapping, pooring your blood, sweat and tears out making what you hope gets played once, maybe twice. NO THANK!

looks quite nice but considering how overstacked D is already, what exactly were you thinkin when you put the flag inside??

I wasn't.

I was being sarcastic.

I have $50 on the fact that he's a defender. :)

I like this map and of course since I know the creater, This would not affect my grade at all :) but i really like this map and am glad for Hawk that it got map of the week.

LoL star, that means my first map made a 91\% too. ;)

Least you're honest Star.

Yea, bribes must have done it.

They call it Map of the Week, but on how often they update it, they should call it Map of the Month.

I'll add this grade since this is what a 91\% is ;)

I honestly could only give it a C as well. Personnally I liked the terrain though, as simple as it may be I really liked it and I felt it was pretty skiable to be honest. The Gameplay has great potential but the lack of any defence for either the bases or the objective would undoubtedly result in every thing being permanantly destroyed quickly after the game gets underway. The crator features also has great potential for good gameplay tactics but in my opinion that potential wasn't taken advantage of in this map. All in all despite the C I think its a good map but my grade is taking in all aspects of the map. Not just gameplay or looks or any other one thing by itself but all things considered alltogether.

I'm afraid a C is the best I can give it Star. It's simple, yes, but from the player's view of things, 2 AA turrets and an indoor flag, coupled with flat, unskiiable, and an extremely long distance between the flags, and you get a Capper's worst nightmare. Additionally, I find the lack of any trees or environmental effects disturbing. Also, powdahound is correct in that there is very little detail given to the map, but I do not blame hawk in any way since this is only his first map. Oh well, we all have our own opinions...

I have been getting some critism on how I reviewed this map. I gave it the grade I felt it should get and I stand by that grade. If you feel it should have been graded differently, post it here. You have every right to feel differently about the map.
Grade: NoneSubmitted by: Mercen4ry - 10/23/2001 10:10 3084
erm... nice concept, but I don't see the reason this was pushed for CS besides the nice craters (emphasis there). This might get my vote if it stayed true to the concept, but ehh...

I don't want to be rude but 85\% for detail? What exactly would 0 entail, an empty .mis file? lol I seen no detail put into this map, it's like he took Zear's mission blank and added stuff, oh well. We all have our own opinions.

Hey, T2maps is supposed to honor great maps. So, even if no one dl'ed it, if its still a good map, we'll find it and spot it out for all to play. Why complain?
Grade: NoneSubmitted by: Star - 10/23/2001 07:10 3081
Often the best maps are overlooked.
