Review:
Fountains of Paradise by Zear has something you aren’t likely to see in any other Tribes 2 mission to date. It has an anti-gravity lift. At the heart of each base lies a large red tunnel like object that once entered into takes you to a base suspended approximately 230 meters above the ground.
Each base sits about 1,200 meters away from other and consists of two main structures. The first structure, which rests on ground level, consists of a vehicle pad, two inventory stations on either side of the anti-gravity lift, and a small rear base. Sitting deep inside the rear base at the bottom of a series of shoots is the generator room. The two generators located here power the entire base, both the ground and air structures. Also inside the rear base are several inventory stations and two sentry turrets. When the generators are destroyed and power is down the anti-gravity lift still functions; however, force fields protecting several of the entrances to the rear base do not. The vehicle pad on ground level only offer ground vehicles.
Once inside the anti-gravity lift, depending on how much momentum you have, within a few seconds you should arrive at the upper base structure. This is where the majority of the mission’s action will take place. At one end of the base is a vehicle pad that offers only Thunderswords and Havocs. Set back directly from this pad is the exit of the anti-gravity lift. On either side of the exit is an Anti-Aircraft turret. Beyond these rest the flag, which is protected by a single sentry turret. This base is located at just the right height. Its high enough so you must use aircraft or the lift to reach the upper base but not so high that it is impossible to get down without taking damage.
This mission is clearly one of the most creative built to date. No other mission has been released like it. The setup and design of the mission make teamwork and coordinated air assaults critical to getting the flag. The anti-gravity element adds a new twist to Tribes 2 Capture the Flag play that we are sure to see again. If you are looking for a mission that stands out in a crowd, this is it.
