Review:
LakeDance is a loose interpretation of the very popular and still widely played Tribes1 mission RainDance, as seen thought the eyes of [NL]-Farek. It is a medium to large sized mission that follows the traditional Tribes2 Capture the Flag blue print, but with a slight Siege like twist.
Each team's area consists of four main base structures. The base from the CTF mission Sanctuary acts as the central point for each team. This base houses both the generators and the only inventory stations on the mission. Each generator sits at the end of a hall connected to what was originally the Sanctuary generator room. They are protected by two force fields powered by a pair solar generators mounted to the back of the base. Even with the solar generators intact it is still possible to access each generator room via a hole in the ceiling. This "generators protecting generators" setup is what gives the mission a slight Siege feeling.
The structure holding the flag rests directly adjacent to the central base and is protected by dual sentry turrets. The flag sits on a pedestal attached to the outside of the tower. Directly opposite to the flag structure is the vehicle pad. On the outer edge of each teams area are twin towers each housing an outward facing plasma turret. Located between the twin towers and the central base is a missile turret on the roof of a small bunker. This bunker is great for sniping.
LakeDance is divided into two halves by a large lake, both spanned and flanked by bridges wide enough for an Assault Tank or Jerico. Although some areas of the lake are slightly deeper, the vast majority of the lake is only knee deep. The design of this area makes for some interesting fights.
Given the basic layout of the mission, combined with the flag being located outdoors, this mission is perfect for coordinated team assaults and great bombing runs. However, the sparsely located inventory stations along with the lack of built in defenses near the flag could lead to solo capture runs if not well defended. These same problems could also lead to complete base destruction by a single person. Overall this mission is well thought out and executed.
